The Clinical Toxicology Department / Hong Kong Poison Information Centre (CTD/HKPIC) provides round-the-clock poison information and poisoning-related clinical consultation service to health care professionals in Hong Kong since 2005. HKPIC is one of the two WHO-listed poison centres in China.
 
Approximately 4,000 poisoning cases were recorded by CTD/HKPIC in the year 2022/23
 
New development:

• The toxicology services in Hospital Authority that includes the Poison Information Centre in United Christian Hospital, Toxicology Reference Laboratory in Prince Margaret Hospital and Poison Treatment Centre in Prince Wales Hospital will be integrated into the Hong Kong Poison Control Centre (HKPCC) to be established in KEC in 2023.
• HKPCC will be physically located in the new Ambulatory block of UCH.
• The integration and establishment of HKPCC will further excel the treatment and prevention of poisoning in Hong Kong. It will also enhance regional and international collaboration on poison control.

CTD/HKPIC is the accredited poison centre for training in clinical toxicology, which is a recognised medical specialty in Hong Kong since 2016. Four doctors currently working in CTD/HKPIC hold the title of Fellow in Clinical Toxicology.
